Privacy

Privacy policy.

LandTaxCalculator.com doesn’t ask you to create an account, doesn’t capture your email, and doesn’t send your calculations to anyone. This policy explains what happens to the small amount of data the site does encounter.

Effective: April 1, 2026 Last updated: April 1, 2026

1. Overview

LandTaxCalculator.com is a static website that hosts free land tax and land transfer tax calculators for Australia and Canada. We’ve deliberately designed the site to collect as little information as possible about visitors — because a calculator doesn’t need to know who you are to do its job.

In plain terms: there are no user accounts, no logins, no newsletter, no contact forms that store what you type, and no ad networks profiling you. You open the page, use a calculator, and leave. Nothing about your purchase, your property, or your identity is transmitted to us or to any third party during that interaction.

Plain-English summary

We collect essentially nothing about you personally. Calculations run inside your own browser. We don’t know which properties you looked up, which states or provinces you viewed, or what prices you entered — because that information never leaves your device.

2. What we collect

LandTaxCalculator.com does not collect, store, or process any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details
  • Your purchase prices, property locations, or calculator inputs
  • Your calculation results or browsing history within the site
  • Any financial information, identity documents, or government IDs

Our web host, like all web hosts, may keep standard server logs that include your IP address, the user agent (browser + operating system) reported by your device, the URL you requested, and the timestamp of the request. These logs are used to keep the site online and diagnose technical problems; they are not linked to any personal information because there is none to link them to. Server logs are retained for a limited period (typically 30 to 90 days) and then automatically deleted.

3. How calculations work

Every calculation performed on LandTaxCalculator.com runs locally in your web browser. When you enter a purchase price or land value, the math is done by JavaScript running on your device — not on our servers. The inputs you type, the state or province you select, and the results you see are never transmitted to us.

This is how it should be: your financial situation is your business.

4. Third-party services

LandTaxCalculator.com uses a small number of third-party services to deliver the site. Each one is listed here along with what it sees.

Google Fonts

We load the typefaces (DM Serif Display and Inter) from the Google Fonts CDN. When your browser requests these fonts, Google receives your IP address and user agent — the same information Google receives whenever you visit any website that embeds Google Fonts. Google’s handling of that data is governed by Google’s privacy policy.

Web hosting

The site is served by a standard web host, which handles the HTTP requests your browser makes. The host sees the same server-log information described in section 2.

What we do not use

The site does not currently load: Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising scripts, tracking pixels, heat-mapping tools, or session-recording tools. No third-party JavaScript profiles your behaviour on the site.

If this changes, you’ll know

If we ever add privacy-respecting analytics (e.g. Plausible, Fathom, or similar tools that don’t track individuals), this policy will be updated to disclose it — and the “last updated” date at the top of this page will change.

5. Cookies

LandTaxCalculator.com does not set any cookies from its own domain. We do not use cookies to remember you between visits, track your behaviour, or identify you.

Third-party services we load (such as Google Fonts) may set their own cookies under their own domains, governed by their own privacy policies. You can block these through your browser’s cookie settings without affecting the calculators, which will continue to work normally.

6. Children’s privacy

LandTaxCalculator.com is intended for adult property owners and home buyers. It is not directed at children under 13 (or 16, in jurisdictions with higher thresholds). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — because we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. If a parent or guardian believes their child has somehow provided personal information to us, they can contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to delete anything identifiable.

7. International users

LandTaxCalculator.com is accessible globally. The calculators are built for Australian and Canadian tax systems specifically, but the site itself can be viewed from anywhere.

European Union & United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) and the UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data held about you. Because we do not hold personal data about visitors beyond short-lived server logs, there is generally nothing to access or delete. If you believe we hold personal data about you, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

California (CCPA)

California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected, sold, or disclosed. We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not knowingly collect personal information of California residents beyond the server logs described above.

Canada (PIPEDA) and Australia (Privacy Act 1988)

For Canadian and Australian visitors, we operate on the principle of data minimisation: the less we collect, the less there is to protect. If you have a concern about how your information may have been handled, contact us directly.

8. Your rights

Regardless of your location, you have the right to:

  • Access any personal information we might hold about you (realistically: none)
  • Request correction or deletion of that information
  • Opt out of any future communications (we don’t currently send any)
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe we’ve mishandled your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We’ll respond within 30 days.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time — typically to reflect changes in the site’s technical setup (for example, if we add privacy-respecting analytics) or to clarify existing practices. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be flagged more visibly, either on the homepage or via a notice on this page.

Because we don’t collect email addresses, we can’t notify you by email — so if you’re the kind of person who likes to keep track of these things, bookmark this page and check it back occasionally.

10. Contact us

If you have questions about this privacy policy or about how LandTaxCalculator.com handles data, please get in touch. We respond to privacy-related questions as quickly as the site’s other correspondence — usually within a few business days.
